The International Dance Music Awards (IDMA) are excited to announce that voting is now open for the 32nd annual installment. Running concurrently with Winter Music Conference in Miami, FL (March 20-22 in the spectacular Faena District), the IDMAs generate over two million votes annually from music enthusiasts in 209 countries and territories to recognize and honor exceptional achievements in various award categories.
Several notable changes have been made to the IDMAs this year. In addition to running online only (there will be no live show), the awards categories have been modified to better highlight different sectors of the music community. For the first time ever, the “Best DJ” category has been removed and instead replaced by four new categories: “Best Male Artist (Mainstream),” “Best Female Artist (Mainstream),” “Best Male Artist (Underground),” and “Best Female Artist (Underground).” This shift will better represent the different styles of dance music and it offers a more inclusive look into the global dance scene.
“We wanted to specifically highlight all the incredible female talent in electronic music and we think their contributions deserve to be recognized.” – Bill Kelly, IDMA founder.
This year’s best Mainstream Artist nominees include crowd favorites Alesso, Alison Wonderland, Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Armin van Buuren, Anna Lunoe, David Guetta, Hardwell, Marshmello, Martin Garrix, Mija, NERVO, Rezz, The Chainsmokers and Tokimonsta, while the best Underground Artist nominees include Adam Beyer, Amelie Lens, Anna, Carl Cox, Charlotte de Witte, Dixon, Ida Engberg, Jamie Jones, Joseph Capriati, Marco Carola, Nastia, Nicole Moudaber, Nina Kraviz, Solomun, Tale of Us and The Black Madonna
