Award-winning Russian artist Fenix returns to the spotlight with a thumping new single this month, drawing influence from some unexpected sources.
The Voice Of The Earth centres around breakdowns filled with joyous ethnic chants, percussive rhythms, bright chords and rousing brass, sandwiching it all in between full-force synth blasts, big snare rolls and pounding kicks for a heady juxtaposition. It’s big-room stuff with a clever little twist, its unusual sampling setting it aside from the pack.
Fenix was the first DJ to play in the Kremlin, and is a resident at some of Russia’s biggest clubs – including Artist (Moscow), Silver (Kiev) and Ibiza Beach Club (Odessa). With over a million YouTube plays to his name, he is rapidly rising up the ranks of EDM, and you can expect much more music from him in the coming months.
