At the 11th March it was D-day, or as most people would call it: REVERZE-day. The 12th edition of this Belgium Bass Event took place in the Sportpaleis & Lotto Arena in Antwerp. Reverze, known for its good shows, was totally sold out. After days of waiting the time finally arrived; REVERZE we’re coming for ya!
We wanted to make sure to be there at the first set; since Cyber was going to kick off the event. It started at 20.30 so we had to make sure to be there on time. With the music coming out of the speakers of our car, the excitement got bigger and bigger when we drove to Antwerp. Around 20.00 we arrived and so did a lot of hardstyle fans who parked their car and were already partying at the parking lot. The parking ticket only costed 5 euros, which was very cheap compared to other (Dutch) festivals.
We didn’t have to wait that long to get in. After 15 minutes we entered the venue which already was packed with people. After we got some – paper – tokens, we headed to the mainstage which found place in the Sportpaleis.
We started our Reverze-journey with the euphoric beats of Cyber. Tracks as Each Other – Sylence & Cyber and Cybers new track – Be Here were included in his set. It didn’t take a long time before we got in the mood as all the people were dancing really enthusiastic.
We stayed at the Sportpaleis for a next set of Audiotricz. It was their first time performing at Reverze and they made the crowd go crazy.
The set of Da Tweekaz was one of our favourite ones that evening. It’s always such a pleasure to see how the make a real party out of their set. We didn’t want to miss any of their tracks.
Around 01.00 it was time to get the Psyko Punkz set started. The Psyko Punkz, which now only consists Wietse who’s on the decks. During the set, he revealed his new upcoming solo album called ‘Wietse’. Making this album costed him 8 months of his life, but it is something he is really proud of. At the age of 15 Wietse already started his passion for hardstyle music, which was a sort of hard house around those days. Now 15 years later, hardstyle became his life and it was an honour to listen to his set at Reverze.
The anthem creator Hard Driver came to the stage at 01.45 and played this years Reverze anthem called ‘Interconnected’. We saw a sea of people going crazy on the anthem. A massive stage and light show got me totally swept away in the music.
When the music got harder – we went from euphoric to raw music – we really noticed that the sound system here is so good. It doesn’t matter where you are in the venue, but I was blown away by the sound, the music and the show. Even the Lotto Arena, which is a little bit smaller than the Sportpaleis, had a pretty big sound system which got me hooked. At the set of Adaro, we were blown away a few times because the kicks were so massive and so on point. Familiar tracks as ‘Rellen in de hel’, but also a new track of Ran-D & Act of Rage – Drugs were played.
One of the last acts in the Sportpaleis was Minus Militia: three raw-hardstyle dj’s also known as Radical Redemption, Cryspis and Chain Reaction. The stage coloured red as they played their raw tracks in the venue of the Sportpaleis. The venue was still full of people which danced their asses off on their last bit of energy.
To conclude: Reverze 2017 was one hell of a great party! The atmosphere was just right, the lightshows and the sound system were really impressive! Reverze, see you next year!
