On Sunday the 24th May it was all about Dancetour! This edition took place in Breda, home of Dannic, Tiesto, Hardwell & more famous Dutch DJ’s. For Dannic things started actually with participating in the Dancetour DJ contest about 5 years ago. The line-up of the day was very promising so we looked forward to the event!
We arrived at Breda train-station quite early because Dancetour had announced to be expecting about 20.000 people so we wanted to make sure to have a quick entry. The entry indeed went quick & after a fast security search we were ready to party! It instantly struck us that there were a lot of stands with food & drinks spread out over the left & right side of the area. About in the middle there was an improvised ‘Lipton Ice Tea’ terrace which gave you a nice view of the crowd & also of the stage. The stage looked fine, with a big Dancetour logo, an LED screen behind the DJ-booth & some room for confetti canons. We decided to start by getting some tokens which were 2,50 euros a piece, quite a regular price in our experience. As has been already mentioned the line-up was impressive, check it out below:
13:00-13:30 DJ Clash: Mr. Weso
13:30-14:00 Robin Riccio
14:00-15:30 Sander van Doorn
15:30-17:00 Vato Gonzalez & MC Tjen
17:00-18:30 MOTi
18:30-20:00 DANNIC
20:00-21:00 Bingo Players
21:00-22:00 The Partysquad
HOSTED BY Mc Boogshe
We were unable to check the DJ Clash winner Mr. Weso but we’ll remember his name & check him out later this year.
Robin Riccio
Robin Riccio is an upcoming DJ/producer who was actually born in Breda & currently is signed at Nicky Romero’s Protocol Recordings. We had never seen him live before and he didn’t disappoint. With some cool electro house vibes he managed to already create a nice atmosphere.
Sander van Doorn
It was suprising for us to see Sander van Doorn, mister DOORN records, play this early and obviously due to that the event location became packed very quickly. Sander van Doorn showcased his most popular tracks like ‘Goldskies’ ft. DVBBS & Martin Garrix and also brought his latest Spinnin’ Records release called ‘Ori Tali Ma’. His set had awesome vibes throughout it and if you closed your eyes you might as well have been at a poolparty in either Miami or Ibiza. Definitely one of the best sets of the day!
Vato Gonzalez & MC Tjen
Vato Gonzalez & MC Tjen are an unseparable duo & always deliver what they stand for: that typical Vato Dirty House vibe. At Dancetour Breda it was striking how many genres Vato managed to put together in his set. Trap, Dirty House, Deep House, you name it, Vato had it! He played amongst other tracks the popular hit ‘Rumors’ by his colleagues at 010 Pep & Rash. A cool moment was when he played his remix of Timmy Trumpet – Freaks that has got a great Deep House vibe to it. MC Tjen was doing a great job hyping the crowd. We must say that the set was building up well but at some points during his set it was confusing what kind of drop you could expect so sometimes a little hard to dance to.
After Vato we decided to refresh with some drinks. Due to the big amount of bars the service was quick which was a good experience.
MOTi
Amsterdam based producer & DJ MOTi (real name Timo) was up next & instantly got the crowd to jump up & down! Opening with his populair track ‘Valencia’ which was released on Tiesto’s label Musical Freedom he definitely seemed to know what the crowd was looking for. Of course he played his collab with Martin Garrix called ‘Virus’ , his collab with Tiesto called ‘Blow your mind’ and his latest solo release ‘House of now’. MOTi was also visibly really enjoying the interaction with the audience. This set has been one of the highlights of the day according to us.
In between MOTi’s set we needed to eat something as it was already dinnertime, time had gone quite fast we must say. More people came up with that idea but after a couple of minutes we could sit down & enjoy a hamburger for 2 tokens which was nice.
Dannic
As everybody knows Dannic has been doing & continuous to do extremely well. The current no. 30 of the world according to last year’s DJ MAG top 100 election & extremely popular DJ who was born in Breda played a strong set. It was extremely visible that loads of local people came to see him because the atmosphere got even better from the very start of his set. As always Dannic showcased the latest releases of Revealed Recordings & used some popular mashups to keep the set recognizable for everybody. Featuring ‘Mayday’ ft. Lucky Date & Harisson, ‘Wait for you’ ft. Shermanology, ‘Blueprint’ ft. Sick Individuals & his solo release ‘Fonk’ the set can’t be characterized as very suprising but the big hits with confetti in the air made it very cool.
Bingo Players
It has been a very long time ago we have been able to see Bingo Players perform in the Netherlands. Even for this current summer season the amount of performances in the Netherlands is very limited so it was really cool to be able to see Maarten play. As is known the act was a duo but due to cancer Paul died in 2013. Maarten opened the set with ‘Rattle’ which was really cool to hear because everybody knows it but it was released already 4 years ago! Obviously he also played the latest tracks of his label Hysteria Records like the latest Bingo Players release called ‘Knock you out’ & the popular ‘Don’t stop the party’ & ‘Dear New York’ ft. Firebeatz. A strong set!
Unfortunately we were unable to check out the closing act The Partysquad because we needed to catch the last train home but we definitely had a nice, very sunny day.
Conclusion
Dancetour is a cool concept because it’s accessible to anybody willing to see some good music due to the free entrance. Alcohol was obviously only served if you were 18+ for which Dancetour used bracelets, a smart move. The award for best set of the day absolutely goes to mister Sander van Doorn but also MOTi, Dannic & Bingoplayers were amazing. We would like to thank the PR of Dancetour for the nice reception & we can absolutely recommend you to visit a Dancetour event. We will definitely be checking out at least 1 more Dancetour event this summer!
