To honor the 5-year anniversary of Kingsland Festival, which takes place at Kingsday in 5 cities, the Dutch national anthem (Wilhelmus) will be sung. In Amsterdam, Den Bosch, Groningen, Maastricht and Twente and record-attempt is being carried out to have as many people as possible sing the Dutch national anthem at the same time. At 18:00h an estimated amount of 150.000 Kingsland visitors will sing the Wilhemus together.
As is tradition, the record attempt will be hosted by Dutch DJ-duo Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano. Last year the record of ‘saying cheers’ was broken. At exactly 18:00 they will pause their set to start that moment. With a live-stream connection the 5 cities will be connected. ”At the most-orange day of the year, which has a feeling of unity, we don’t only celebrate the birthday of King Willem Alexander, but it’s also a moment of realization of the Dutch pride.” commented Mitchell Bovenlander, founder of Kingsland.
This year visitors in all 5 cities can check out several music-styles at both indoor- and outdoor-locations. EDM DJ’s Martin Garrix, Tiësto and Afrojack are the three headliners at the mainstages. Urban-lovers have to be at the TIKTAK-stage with live-performances of amongst others: Lil’ Kleine, Ronnie Flex, Sevn Alias and Kris Kross Amsterdam. Besides that some of the cities also have a deep-house of hardstyle-stage. Last year the festival expanded to Groningen, this year also Maastricht and Twente. For all cities tickets are still available via: www.kingslandfestival.nl.
